Dudley Road
Built on the last rural road just outside Boston, the house has the presence and proportions of a modest and graceful country house. The twin gables of the main part of the house face the street and the garage wing extends at an angle to the left, enclosing a brick-patterned courtyard. A carriage house for three cars has living space above for an au pair or other accessory use. A library ell extends from the right side of the house. The double height entry with its second floor gallery welcomes visitors to the home, and the living and dining spaces at the front of the house are formal and generous. The entry continues through the house to French doors leading to a deck and the rear yard. The library is down a bright hallway to the right, and with its bath and storage, doubles as a guest suite. The family room and kitchen are to the left, open to each other, and up the stairs to the upper floors. Four bedrooms, each with bath, make up the second level, with a large room in the attic for the children to entertain themselves and their friends.
