The narrow, deep lot had been subdivided from an existing lot, and the grade drop of nearly twelve feet from the front of the house to the back made for an interesting design challenge. The garage wing gives form to the entry porch nestled at the intersection of the living room extension. Visitors enter at grade onto a broad pedestal overlooking the living room a few steps down. A staircase off to the side leads up to a gallery overlooking the entry hall, and another stair rises to the tower room in the treetops. A wide hall cascades
down toward the kitchen in the rear, passing an office and pantry on the way. Kitchen and family room are at the base of the hall looking out over the rear yard. The living room and dining room share high ceilings and the space running the length of the house. French doors open to a screened porch. |
